Mini DV playback problem with Panasonic PV-GS50s in VCR mode.?

Alright, I't had this camera for a while now, and I bought it with this problem because it was really cheap, and I can use it to record to SD memory. The problem is, when I record the video on my DV cassette, If I rewind from the camera/standby mode, I can see the images fine, or at least legibly wizzing past in reverse. However, in VCR mode when I go to watch the recording, I will rewind it (It is in blue screen mode like most cameras) and then when it gets to the beginning of the tape (where the tape cant rewind any further) It will flash the beginning of the video almost as a still and then go instantly to blue screen, where you can tell that it is thinking of SOMETHING, but then after about 5 to 10 seconds it gives me an “Incompatible Data” message in red text over the blue screen. I have tried playing with the record, play back settings, LP SP 12bit audio 16bit, everything I can think of. I mean, the data is obviously there and it is playable, I mean I see it in reverse and fast forward modes in the camera mode, and the still for half a second in the VCR mode, why can't it just play the damned thing. And from what I can tell the image is MARVOULOUS When I catch a glimpse at it. I've heard of play back with blocks, and artifacts, but never just a complete refusal to even try playing. The reason for me to record in MiniDV over SD is because of the quality, For some reason Panasonic holds back the resolution when recoding on SD and while still recording beautiful video on SD alone, I know that MiniDV would be twice as good. So please help because my other camcorder is a Hitachi MiniDVD which takes forever at startup, and the recording media is more unreliable than MiniDV, though does give on hell of a picture. And I need the Panasonic to work for the extra ports it has over my Hitachi. 10 points to anyone who actually knows what they are talking about, you don't need to solve the problem, just put me in the right direction, or at least know what you're saying.
