I am looking for an entry level Mini DV camcorder that will provide zero lux or near zero lux recording at night? Any suggestions on model numbers (available in UK/Ireland)

Hello I am interested in buying a camcorder. I either want an HDD or MiniDV camcorder. The main two camcorders i am looking at right now are the Sony HDR-HC7 (MiniDv) and Sony HDR-SR12(120Gib, Hard Disk Drive) which seem to be the best of both worlds based on reviews ive done on camcorderinfo.com, and cnet. Now the main reasonses i want the camcorder is to one take good opitical zoom (10 to 12megapixels is good right?), the ability to take good still pictures, and the ability to edit the videos. An extra plus would be to take good low light and regular/nightvision night picture.
any help with info and a realistic comparision of specs whould be nice.

I have a Sony DCR HC52 MiniDV camcorder. Can i still record video in HD with an Sony HD minidv tape?
Or are the Sony HD tapes only for MiniDV HD camocorders?

i bought this camera privately , i didn't get the software to transfer my videos to my pc and ive gone to jvc site and cant seem to find it i bought software from ebay the software everio power cinema something , that didn't recognize my camera videos or even my camera as a everio its a mini-dv 870u it sees my memory card reads that fine just no videos ? can someone forward my the link to the proper software download that would normally come with the camera? JVC gr-d870u thanks

There are a couple good packages. For beginners, I recommend Roxio Easy Media Creator or Adobe Premiere Elements. Both are powerful and easy to use for beginners. You also need a firewire card and a cable to connect your camcorder to your PC.
Sony has a product called DVdirect that lets you connect a camcorder directly up to it and it will burn directly to disc. It's easy but not as powerful as using a PC.

What is the best camcorder canon xm2 or sony dcrvx2100?
